Are You ‘Locked In’ to Buying your Wire Ropes from one Supplier?
With some types of equipment, it is a requirement that the equipment manufacturer must carry out the maintenance and provide replacement parts, if you are to retain the equipment manufacturers’ guarantee.
This is not the case with wire ropes. However, as a wire rope user, you may feel that the same situation applies, and some wire rope suppliers will capitalize on that because they don’t like knowledgeable independents being involved in what they consider their market.
One reason why suppliers of wire rope don’t like independents is because, once you separate the supply and the technical service, you as the client then become free to look for wire ropes elsewhere.
If your current wire rope supplier is providing you with technical services, but you do manage to ‘sneak in’ another supplier’s wire rope, do you think that your existing supplier is going to give it a fair chance?
